E49- Scratch Buffalo

On this episode I get the chance to speak with Chris and Mark who are both part of the band Scratch Buffalo. We talk about the song writing marathon that the band did back in January, they wrote and recorded 50 songs and raised over $4000 for the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. We also talk about what goes into the making of a Scratch Buffalo album, why producers can be valuable, as well as the importance of making sure all your band members know their jobs and are on the same page. Scratch Buffalo will be releasing their first LP on May 18/18. You can listen to the first single off the album "Kill the Sky" as well as the second single "Poltergrease" at the end of the episode

I get the chance to talk with Arron and Hunter who, together, make up the band The Northern Coast. It was lots of fun getting the chance to speak with these guys, they are down to earth genuine dudes who let there music do the talking. We talk about their upcoming album and how they are treating it differently from their past release as well as what its like to see your fan base grow beyond just your friends. Kyle Brouwer, also known as Alter Ego Collective, returns to chat about his up-coming album "The Valley" and much much more. It was lots of fun getting the chance to catch up with Kyle, it's been about a year since he last appeared on the podcast and its been a busy year for him. We talk about what went in to the making of his latest album, which is set to release April 13th/2018, as well as putting together the CD release show which is happening at Cafe Koi on the same day. I speak with Brendan and Ben who make up one half of Calgary heavy alternative band Tiger Bomber. The band just released their debut album in December 2017, the album is self titled. We talk about first show jitters, why its important to get your friends involved in any way possible,as well as the creative elements behind writing a song and how pushing the boundaries of song writing keeps it interesting for everyone. We also discuss not taking yourself to seriously and how playing with other people improves your skills as a musician and is just plain fun! I speak with Ethan and Trenton who, together, form the band Dane. We talk all about some of the benefits and some of the challenges that come with having a two piece band. We also talk about how the band achieves such a "large" sound with just the two of them as well as their writing process and how the band came to be.
